BLUERET

Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% W/V

DESCRIPTION:

BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) is a sterile, pyrogen free blue coloured aqueous solution. It selectively stains the ILM to facilitate the complete peeling, required to repair macula holes during the retinal surgery. It is a ready to use solution with a concentration of 0.05% w/v Brilliant Blue G in a Isotonic base.

COMPOSITION:

Each ML Contains:

  • Brilliant Blue G .......0.05%w/v
  • Sodium Chloride IP ........0.5% w/v
  • Sterile Isotonic base ......q.s.

PROPERTIES:

  • Good staining & Better contrast. No inflammatory reactions.
  • Ready-to-use sterile solution: does not require mixing or filtering. Excellent Bio-Compatibility.
  • No adverse side-effects.
  • No side reaction such as photo induced cross linking of collagen fibres. Easy removal of residual product from the eye.
  • BLUERET is a dye to stain the ILM in vitreoretinal surgery.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY SECTION:

Mechanism Of Action:

BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) selectively stains membranes in the human eye during posterior surgery, such as Epiretinal Membranes (ERM)and Internal Limiting Membranes (ILM).

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) is carefully applied to the retinal membrane using a blunt cannula attached to the syringe, without allowing the cannula to contact or damage the retina. Sufficient staining is expected on contact with the membrane. All excess dye should be removed from the vitreous cavity before performing an air-fluid exchange, to prevent unnecessary spreading of the dye. It can also be injected directly in a BSS filled vitreous cavity (instead of injecting under air). Clinical use demonstrated that, after complete vitreous and posterior hyaloids removal, sufficient staining is achieved after 30 seconds of application under BSS.

WARNING AND PRECAUTION:

Excessive staining:
It is recommended that after injection all excess BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) be immediately removed from the eye.

INDICATIONS:

Greater affinity with the inner limiting membrane (ILM) and lesser with the epiretinal membrane, allowing an improved view of the ILM and facilitating the peeling in surgical operations for macular diseases, such as Macular Hole or Macular Fibrosis.

SURGICAL TECHNIQUES:

BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) is a good option for macular hole surgery, where visualization of the ILM is important; but safety is also important, as the foveal photoreceptors are directly exposed to the dye via the full-thickness retinal defect. An integrated PEG carrier helps concentrate the dye at the macula, eases dye removal, and avoids the need for air-fluid exchange to localize dye on the back of the eye.

CONTRAINDICATION:

No contraindications are known when used in accordance with the recommendations.

STORAGE:

BLUERET (Brilliant Blue G Solution 0.05% w/v) is store between 15 - 25°C . Store away from sunlight, Store in dry place.

SHELF LIFE:

2 Years from the date of manufacturing.
